Courtney and Ethan in front of the barn

North 44 Farm was founded in 2016 by Courtney Schuur and Ethan O’Brien, who are first-generation ranchers.

Starting with just a handful of cows and sheep, the couple has worked for 7 years (and counting!) to build their ranch from the ground up.

They learned through trial and error, and with the help of experienced mentors, they developed their own unique approach to ranching that focuses on sustainable, regenerative, and humane practices.

Courtney is a former chef and that knowledge has helped them create a program that's focused on high-quality end products that are loved in both commercial and home kitchens. Ethan is a former engineer who creates methodical and detail-oriented approaches to pasture management starting from soil health, to biodiverse pasture development, to animal rotations.

Over the years, the ranch has grown in size and scope, and today it is a thriving operation that is known for producing high-quality grass-fed and finished beef and lamb, and for its commitment to animal welfare and environmental stewardship.
